Olympus has just announced the new OM-D E-M10, a 16 megapixel entry-level mirrorless interchangeable lens camera scheduled for release in late February 2014. The black version of this camera is scheduled for a March release.
With a stylish, ultra-slim metal body, this very compact mirrorless camera is fitted with a 16 MP micro four thirds Live MOS sensor and the TruPic VII processor found on the high-end E-M5 and E-M1 models. A high resolution electronic viewfinder should make composing shots the traditional way simple, and 3-axis VCM in-body stabilization helps reduce the effects of camera-shake, making low-light shooting easier. An ISO range of 100-25,600 makes capturing photos in dark lighting conditions with the Olympus E-M10 even easier.
An 81-point autofocus system and 8 fps maximum sequential shooting rate make the Olympus E-M10 a very impressive camera when it comes to capturing fast action.
A “Cat’s Eye Control” adjusts the LCD brightness automatically depending upon the ambient lighting conditions of the environment, increasing brightness in bright outdoor sunlight and decreasing the brightness in darker conditions.
Costing less than many DSLR cameras, the Olympus E-M10 offers many of the features of Olympus’s pricier Micro Four Third cameras at a fraction of the cost. Priced at around $799 with the kit lens and $699 for the body only, the E-M10 is currently available for pre-order.
